The last layover: Savannah, Georgia

TrollyGressingAfter leaving Raleigh,  we headed south to Savannah, Georgia.  We stopped there because it was the half way point on the leg from Raleigh, N.C. to Florida.  It was a surprise to see what a great place it was to visit.  We purchased tickets on the trolley that runs around the downtown area…it takes an hour and a half to complete the full circuit.  Starting at 9:00 am, we made three turns around the town getting off at several areas of interest.  Bus drivers were very knowledgeable and provided a historical narration of the local points to see as well as some local humors.

map_savannah_historic_7largeLots of historical spots and points of interest.  The city was originally laid out in a grid pattern with a “square” every few blocks, each providing monuments and points of interest.  Savannah is very proud of its heritage and is preserving or restoring buildings and the downtown area.   We were able to eat lunch at the Pirates Den in the “Herb house” which is the oldest house in Georgia!  Lunch buffet included good old southern cooking: fried chicken, potatoes, green beans and several types of okra.  Following lunch we went for a walk along Bay Street which runs along the river with its paddle wheel boats, tourists shops, and market.  Main Street downtown was full of little specialty shops and antique stores.

Even though we have been racking up about 100 to 300 k per day we are still only about a third of the way to Level 15.  These last few level-ups are HUGE!

Savanna-IITCWe took advantage of the tourist trolley and did some serious trolly-gressing.   We were well supplied with gear and the trolley route gave us the chance to smash, deploy and link nearly every portal in the town.  The was a +300K day for each of us!

We are now settled into our home for the next two months here in Eustis, Florida at my son’s place.  Met some of the locals and we have flipped two of the local town.  Mostly low level players here so difficult to create a farm, but we found a remote one about 35 minutes away, so we should be all set.  Now to start planning for our first op.
